Preamble
This general information on the use of cookies by Trevi-Finanziaria Industriale S.p.A. refers to the websites www.trevifin.com, www.trevigroup.com, www.trevispa.com and www.soilmec.com, including all the websites of foreign companies making part of the Trevi Group.
Definitions, characteristics and application of the regulation
Cookies are small text files that websites visited by users send to and store on their computer or mobile device, in order to be re-transmitted to the same websites at the next visit. Thanks to cookies, a website remembers the user’s actions and preferences (such as login data, chosen language, font size and other display settings, etc.) so that they do not need to be specified again when the user returns to visit said website or browse its pages. Cookies are therefore used to perform computer authentication, to monitor sessions and to store information concerning the activities of users who access a Wwebsites. They may also contain a unique identifier that tracks the user’s navigation within the same site for statistical and advertising purposes. When navigating a Websites, users may happen to receive some cookies on their own computer from websites or servers different from the one they are visiting (the so-called “third party” cookies). Some activities could not be carried out without the use of cookies, which in certain cases are hence technically necessary for the site to function.
There are various types of cookies, based on their characteristics and functions. These can be stored on the user’s computer for different time periods such as session cookies, which are automatically deleted when the browser is closed, and persistent cookies, which remain on the user’s device until a set expiration date.
According to the applicable Italian law, the express consent of the user is not always required for the use of cookies. Specifically, consent is not required for “technical cookies”, namely those used for the sole purpose of transmitting a communication on an electronic communication network, or insofar as this is strictly necessary to provide a service expressly requested by the user. In other words, these cookies are essential for the functioning of the website or necessary to carry out the activity required by the user.
Among the technical cookies, which do not require an express consent for their use, the Italian Data Protection Authority (see the Provision Simplified arrangements to provide information and obtain consent regarding cookies dated 8 May 2014 and subsequent clarifications, hereinafter referred to as “Provision”), also includes:
- “analytic cookies”, used directly by the website manager to collect aggregate information on the number of visitors and the pattern of visits to the websites;
- navigation or session cookies (for authentication);
- functional cookies, which allow users to navigate as a function of certain pre-determined criteria (such as language or products to be purchased) so as to improve the quality of the service provided.
On the other hand, a prior consent of the user in the case of “profiling cookies” is required. Said cookies are aimed at creating user profiles and are used to send ads messages in line with the preferences shown during navigation.
Types of cookies used by the Website and (de-)selection
The Websites www.trevifin.com, www.trevigroup.com, www.trevispa.com and www.soilmec.com uses the following cookies that can be de-selected, except for third-party cookies for which reference should be directly made to the relevant selection and de-selection methods of the respective cookies specified via link:
- Technical cookies – browsing or session cookies – which are strictly necessary for the functioning of the Websites or for providing the contents and services requested by the user.
- Functional cookies, which are used to enable specific functions of the Websites and a series of pre-determined criteria (such as language) in order to improve the quality of the service provided.
ATTENTION: by disabling technical and/or functional cookies, the Websites may not be accessible or some services or specific functions of the Websites may not be available or work properly, thus requiring the user to manually change or enter certain information or preferences at every Websites visit.

“Profiling cookies”, owned by the Company and/or third parties, are possibly aimed at creating/improving user’s profiles and are used to send/or show advertising messages according to the preferences shown by the user while navigating the Websites. The (optional) consent of the user is always necessary for this type of cookies. The user may choose to which profiling cookies give consent. With reference to “third-party” cookies, which are installed/used on the Websites by parties other than the Data Controller, the user may give or decline consent directly to the owner of the cookie concerned, to which the Data Controller merely provides a link.

The user may block or delete (in whole or in part) technical and functional cookies through the specific functions of the Browser. Nevertheless, we inform the user that declining technical cookies could result in the impossibility to use the Websites, view its contents and use the relative services. By blocking functional cookies, some services or certain functions of the Websites may not be available or work properly, thus requiring the user to manually change or enter certain information or preferences at every Websites visit.
The choices made concerning Website’s cookies will, in turn, be recorded in a special cookie. However, in some circumstances, this cookie may not function properly: in such cases, it is advisable to delete unwanted cookies and block their use also by means of the Browser functions.
Preferences referring to cookies shall be reset if the user uses different devices or Browsers to access the Websites.
